COM 212 - Unit One
~ My mother always says that I am the most trusting and forgiving person she has ever met. It is a great ability to be those two things but sometimes I get burnt because I am that way. People often take advantage of the fact that I have both traits. My friends would say that I am fun and outgoing and that I am reliable when they need a friend. They would probably say that my communication weaknesses are that I can sometimes let my redheaded attitude get out. They would say that my strenghths are that I am great at communicating my feelings and also at seeing everyones side.
~ With what little free time I have, I choose to spend it with my friends and family and also my adorable little puppy shown at the left! I also like to cook, read, knit, sing, practice my guitar, run and play basketball!!
~ The current most important use of interpersonal communication I have is in my work environment. I am a teller at a bank. I must use interpersonal communication to deal with customers that bank with us. As a teller I have found that often times I am the first person that the customer deals with. I must learn how to hear the problems that customers and even fellow employees have so that I can help solve the issue or direct them to someone else that can help them.
~ I recently had an interpesonal communication situation that I wish I would have handled differently. While I was reading the chapter I was thinking of this particulary situation. I handled a teaching moment to one of my newer fellow employees without patience and I wish I would have taken a few breaths to find a different solution.
